Spring & Summer Programs 2008

Chelsea Piers BlueStreak, located adjacent to the Sports Center at Pier 60, is an innovative athletic training and skills development center dedicated to enhancing sport performance in athletes. For the first time, you can train like an elite athlete!

Spring & Summer Curriculum: March - August 2008

Chelsea Piers BlueStreak offers five different spring and summer program options: Acceleration, Acceleration & Skills, Team Training, APEX, and In-Season Training. We offer programs appropriate for all sports involving speed, strength, power and agility, including soccer, hockey, basketball, baseball, football, volleyball, figure skating, gymnastics, tennis and more. Spring program participants receive 75-minute to two-hour training sessions up to three times per week over a 6- to 10-week time period. Summer training programs must be completed in 8 weeks. Sessions are scheduled Monday through Saturday, with separate times for youth and adults. A 5:1 student-to-coach ratio ensures safety and maximizes personal attention. Athletes must be at least 12 years of age to enroll.

Adult Training

Adults can participate in either Acceleration (75 minutes) or Acceleration & Skills (2 hours) – usually 2 times per week for 10 weeks.

Program Features

Chelsea Piers BlueStreak utilizes state-of-the-art training equipment and exercise protocols from Athletic Republic, Dartfish video analysis, FreeMotion functional circuit training, advanced plyometric training, and sport-specific training on our indoor turf, track, rink and courts. Each program is designed to improve an athlete's speed and conditioning. In addition, the BlueStreak program helps young athletes develop better game skills with sport-specific skills training, ball/puck control drills, hand-eye coordination drills, and sport-specific balance and stability training.

Training sessions utilize the Athletic Republic Generation III Super Treadmill (skating treadmill for ice hockey), plyometric drills, strength training, and sport-specific skill sessions. Sport-specific training is available for a range of sports, including ice hockey, basketball and soccer.

Staff

The Athletic Republic certified BlueStreak coaching staff consists of dynamic, dedicated coaches who are passionate about making all athletes stronger, faster and more skilled.
