General Acceleration
Chelsea Piers BlueStreak’s general sports conditioning program is referred to as the Acceleration program. The Acceleration program is designed to increase speed, strength and agility, which are athletic assets that are critical in most competitive sports.
The Acceleration program is customizable for athletes interested in overall athletic conditioning as well as for athletes intent on improvement in a specific sport.
Acceleration athletes run short sprints on the Athletic Republic-patented running high-speed treadmill, which can reach speeds of 28 miles an hour and an incline grade of 40 degrees. Programs for short duration/high-intensity sprinting sequences are individualized based on an athlete’s goals and current fitness level.
In addition to treadmill training, the Acceleration program also includes:
- dynamic warmup
- core stabilization exercises
- sport-specific strength training
- agility drills
- plyometrics
BlueStreak athletes who train in the Acceleration program include not only runners, but tennis, baseball, lacrosse and rugby players, figure skaters, and gymnasts.
