Congratulations to everyone who swam at the Masters SC Meet & Commissioner's Trophy Relay this weekend in Flushing Meadows. Chelsea Piers Masters had a great turn out, a lot of fun AND brought home the Trophy Relay title.

Mary Temple, Pascal Borderies, David Spires and Margie Pedder won the mixed 200 freestyle relay, which as some of you may know, has a long 27-year history. The final time was 1.47 and Mary, Pascal and David all had great relay splits - pictures will follow soon!

Lance Ogren swam an incredible 51 seconds for 100 yard freestyle, and Sil Bracaglia and Tim Hynes also had great swims. Tim really enjoyed his 200 yard butterfly, which is a bonus!

Also, we had a lot of individual age group first place finishes, including Sil in the 100 and 500 yard free, Mary in the 50 freestyle and 50 backstroke, David in the 200 backstroke, Lance in the 100 & 200 freestyle, Pascal in the 50, 100 and 200 butterfly events and Tim in the 100 freestyle and 200 butterfly.

Again, great job team!

Tone Up in the Pool

Josh Fly, Director of Personal Training

"Want to look better in a bathing suit? Use your (pool) noodle. Turns out, the ubiquitous foam toy (you've probably had backyard "sword" fights with one!) is also an ultra-effective tone-up tool," writes Holly St. Lifer in her most recent article in Self magazine. Titled "Slim in a Splash," the article features a workout created by Personal Trainer Mike Nicholson exclusively for Self utilizing the pool and a noodle.

With the variety of noodle moves featured, you'll look like a synchronized swimmer but feel like a hardcore athlete. The exercises will work your abs, obliques, legs, hips, arms, chest and butt, giving you a full-body workout perfect for the sizzling days of summer.
