Congratulations to Golf Academy Teaching Pro Marjorie Jones on winning the Senior Division of the 2010 Calloway Championship held at The Ace Club in Lafayette Hill, PA over the last 2 days! This tournament was the Sectional Championship for the North East Section of the LPGA Teachers and Club Professionals tour.

We wish her the best of luck as she competes for the 54-hole National Championship at the Golf Club at Ballantyne in Charlotte, NC from September 10-12. She will compete against a field of the top 144 LPGA T&CP players throughout the United States.

From LPGA.com - The LPGA Teaching and Club Professional's showcase event began in 1983 to provide additional playing opportunities for LPGA Teaching and Club Professionals. The event has since grown to become recognized as the premier tournament for women teaching and club professionals in the world.

The Golf Academy's very own Marjorie Jones was recently interviewed and featured on the Gotham Golf Blog. Marge instructed founder/writer Ralph Perez on the use of FlightScope and sat down for an interview on her own background and her take on the game of golf.

The Golf Club would like to congratulate Willy Chang on winning the Chelsea Cup for the month of July! By shooting a 45 on the back nine of St. Andrew's on our virtual simulator, he has won a complimentary round at Van Cortlandt Golf Course!

This is the second win in a row and third of the year for Mr. Chang. He previously won the tournament during the months of April and June and now holds second place in the Player of the Year standings. At the end of the year, the Player of the Year will receive two round trip tickets on Jet Blue valid anywhere in the US!

The Chelsea Cup runs year-round and features a different course each month (August is the Bridgestone Invitational). Competitors, join us to play nine holes on the simulators at your leisure throughout the month and compare your scores to those who have already played! Each monthly winner receives a prize and every competitor earns points towards their Player of the Year score simply for playing. In the September edition of Golf Magazine, regulars at the Golf Club may see a few familiar faces. Inside, Golf Club Teaching Professional James Field, as well as master member John Golec and Jack Curtis, are part of a 2-page spread detailing their experiences taking Cleveland Golf's DST Challenge with James at the Golf Club. Cleveland challenged players that their Launcher DST series of drivers will outdrive any driver you are carrying in your bag right now. With the help of James and the Flight Scope - a computer based measurement of your shots - John and Jack compared their drivers to Cleveland's. In both tests, Cleveland's drivers outdrove the old drivers by at least 16 yards. WOW!
