Over-30 division 1

Half-way through the season, the Wonderers, M&O Iron Work and Flint FC are tied for first place. Each team has five wins and one loss.  Flint FC robbed the Wonderers of their undefeated record last Monday night; as they stole the show with an 11-3 win.  Anfield Road End follows closely behind and could knock one of these teams out of contention on any given Monday.

Over-30 division 2

Inter Mipants has gotten off to a strong start this season with an impressive six wins and zero losses.  Shandy Drinkers hold the second place spot with a record of 5-1.  The two top teams will face each other on March 7th at 7:00pm.   Inter Mipants would be wise to strategize against Shandy Drinkers’ offense, who have managed to score 76 goals already this season.

Friday Co-ed Division

Arsenal GSE and Team Ramrod are tied for first place with an undefeated record of 5-0.  Arsenal seems to be the stronger of the two defensively, allowing only 24 goals so far this season. Team Ramrod, on the other hand, has scored 29 more goals than Arsenal and clearly possesses the offensive talent.  The two teams face each other on March 4th for a guaranteed great match.

Women's League

Wednesday night women teams McThree Man Wall and Baker Street Dozen are tied with 12 points each.  The two teams play each other on March 2nd.   In the meantime, the Women’s League is seeing some of the best competition to date and Brooklyn Tavern, FC Lions and Red Sky are all highly capable of overtaking either of these first place teams in the coming weeks.

Division 1

The unbeaten teams include Paul Weiss (Tuesday), Hi-Tech (Wednesday), Barcap USA (Thursday), and The Rascals (Sunday).  However, this is no time to get complacent.  Five weeks of the regular season remain and these teams have a number of talented and hungry teams nipping at their heels.

Division 2

Standouts in Division 2 include Argie (5-0), Elsewhere FC (5-0), McNulty’s Last Stand (5-0), LCM (6-0) and Bakers Street Barlocks (5-0-1). 

Division 3

There has been more reshuffling in Division 3 than in any other league this season.  Nearly 25 teams are within one victory of overtaking the team ahead of them. Special congratulations to Team Uncle Caddy, who is the only team to have more than a three-point lead over another team.

Futbol at Chelsea Piers has reached the quarter mark of the winter season and standings have started to take shape as Week 3 comes to a close. 

On Monday evening, the Escobars pulled out an 11-9 win over the Goal Diggers.  Last season, the Escobars lost in overtime to team Sky Rink and came just short of being crowned champion.  They’ve returned hungry and eager to avenge last season’s loss.

Tuesday was one of the most competitive nights we’ve seen, as three of the games ended in 8-8 draws.  GFI Corporate Punishment hit their stride with a convincing 13-3 win over their opponents, DB Old School.  If you ask members of GFI, they’ll credit the win to their lucky purple shirts, which they brought back this week.

Look out for Baker Street Dozen this season.  They defeated powerhouse Brooklyn Tavern in the Women’s League last Wednesday night.  A few good matches are guaranteed to arise as Baker Street Dozen, Brooklyn Tavern and McThree Man Wall compete for the top spot.

Thursday night hosts the Premier Division.  Top dogs Melmac United and Aegis Capital continue to live up to their reputation but the Rebels and Chelsea United are looking to gain some respect.  Week 4 promises some good matchups, as these teams take on one another.

Coed team, Samba Falsa, played their first game of the season on Friday and held Topps Attax to a 10-10 draw.  It’ll be interesting to see if these rookies can hold their own against the veteran coed teams.

Game of the week goes to Kon Tiki vs. ML Calcio. Last Thursday, these two new teams proved that they belong to the Chelsea Piers Division 1 league.  Elite skill and emotion poured onto the field in the most technical and sensational game to date.  Kon Tiki defeated ML Calcio in the end, 7-4.

A special thanks to all the teams that came out on Sunday and competed. As most New Yorkers had their eyes glued to the New York Jets, the Sunday divisions proved their dedication and showed up to compete.  Stayed tuned for updates on Week 4.

A few weeks into the Winter League Season, chemistry is clicking and the Adult soccer teams are starting to bring quality, competitive soccer to the Field House.

This past week, Division 1 rival teams Bloomberg and Paul Weiss played another hard-fought match. The two teams last faced each other in the semi-finals of the fall season. They battled back and forth for 50 minutes, but Paul Weiss managed to secure the win with a final score of 11-10. The defending champions may have renewed their win this week, but they are sure to face Bloomberg again later in the season for another nail-biter.

Team Hi-Tech made quite the impression on the league this week.  The defending Over-30 Division 1 Champions tested their skills against Division 1 team The Swans (a regular Division 1 powerhouse). The game resulted in a 9-9 draw. Hi-Tech might not be as young and quick as many of the Division 1 teams, but their experience allows them to compete against the best teams in D-1.

The Over-30 Division 1 League also had quite the match up. M&O Iron Work, down 6-3 at halftime, mounted a furious comeback against the Wonderers. Despite their notable momentum, they just fell short of clenching the win. The final score was 11-12.

Division 2 had two close matches this week. FC Carmen held off Debevoise 9-8.  Tribeca Weasels and Baker Street Barlocks played to a 9-9 draw. All four teams left the fields hungry, demonstrating that this winter’s Division 2 league is going to be more competitive than ever before.

Friday night’s match up between the Feezables and Team Ramrod was the highest scoring game of the week. The thrilling goalfest resulted in a combined 31 goals. Team Ramrod proved to be the slightly stronger team, taking the win, 17 to 14.

This past week demonstrated the potential of the winter teams. Stay tuned for more updates next week.
