Skating on a synthetic ice surface, several of Sky Rink's skaters & coaches stole the show at the 2012 Dance Fest & Parade in Tompkins Square Park! The idea to use synthetic ice at this year's event was thought of by veteran Sky Rink coach Marni Halasa. This was the first time that the Parade ever featured figure skaters gliding on a synthetic surface. In addition to Marni, staff coach Ali Blank and guest coaches Justine Kelleher and Stephanie Chernick also participated in the "Imagaination on Ice" event. "The public really enjoyed watching the skaters perform and there was a constant crowd around the 'rink,'" commented Marni.

The "Reach for the Sky Rink All Stars" also performed their circus routine during the festival, skating with props such as silk fans and hula hoops. Other young skaters from Sky Rink's Junior Prep program came out to skate and enjoy the festivities. Thank you to everyone that helped make this event a huge success!

This past weekend, Golf Academy student Luke Sample (8), a student of Golf Academy pro Chris Stoudt, won his tournament on the International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT)! This was Luke's first Discovery Tour win. Luke finished with a solid score of 41 and did not card anything over a bogey in the entire 9-hole event. Both Luke, and younger brother Andrew (6), will be competing in several tournaments in the area over the course of the summer. We wish you guys the best of luck!
