Sharone Huey Tested Out Wii Fit for The New York Times

Chris Smith, Sports Center General Manager
May 20, 2008

The New York Times chose Sports Center personal trainer Sharone Huey as the fitness professional to evaluate Nintendo’s new Wii Fit video game. Though Sharone barely broke a sweat when testing out this latest gadget in the fitness craze, she did think that the game had value for people who are generally more sedentary. The article, O.K., Avatar, Work With Me, appeared as the cover story in yesterday’s Thursday Styles section.

Kenny Moir, Executive Director of Figure Skating
May 7, 2008

Congratulations to Sky Rink skating coach Marni Halasa, who beat out 30,000 contestants to make the televised audition of the third season of America's Got Talent. To make the cut, Marni performed a unique "figure-blading" (a combination of figure skating, rollerblading and dance) routine in front of celebrity judges, David Hasselhoff, Piers Morgan and Sharon Osbourne.

May is for Moms!

Allison Gibson, Director of the Spa at Chelsea Piers
May 2, 2008

Mothers never make it easy to buy for them, but sometimes the best presents are the easiest. This Mother’s Day give your Mom what she really wants – the chance to spend some quality time with you! Hectic schedules often make it difficult to show Mom just how much she's loved, so plan an activity where you can catch up and pamper yourselves at the same time!

The Spa at Chelsea Piers is offering a Mother’s Day special for the entire month of May--book side-by-side nail treatments and Mom’s treatment is half off.

And don’t stop there – if you book a treatment at the Spa, you'll receive a complimentary day pass to the Sports Center. Make a day of it with Mom and take a yoga class, relax on the sundeck, or go for a dip in the pool together.
