Frequently Asked Questions
I’m interested in bringing a team to play in one of the Chelsea Piers leagues, what do I do?
Complete the registration form available from the Front Desk or chelseapiers.com and return it to the Soccer Department at the Field House through fax, mail, or in person, along with the $600 deposit.
My team wasn’t able to get into the league, are you going to charge us?
We will only charge the deposit for your team if we are able to find a place for you in one of the leagues.
My team wants to play on a specific night. Can you accommodate us?
We usually have very few open slots, so it may be tough for us to place your team exactly when you want to be playing, but we will try as best we can to find space for your team.
I don’t have a team, but I still want to play in the league. Can you find a team for me?
We accept individual applications in addition to team applications. We try to place every individual that applies on a team. If an individual is placed on a team, their team captain will coordinate payment with them according to roster size.
How many players do I need to form a team? What’s the most I can have?
The roster minimum is 8 players. The maximum is 15, however only 12 players can dress per match.
Do we need to provide our own uniforms?
No, Chelsea Piers provides all teams with 12 shirts.
What kind of equipment do I need?
Players can wear flat-soled athletic shoes (i.e. indoor soccer, turf, running, cross-training). Cleats are strictly prohibited. Shinguards are required for all players.
When does the league play?
Matches are played from 6pm-Midnight during the week and 4pm-Midnight on Sundays. Specific divisions are as follows:
| Coed | Fridays |
| Over-30 | Mondays |
| Women’s | Wednesdays |
| Division 1 | Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Sundays |
| Intermediate Divisions 2 and 3 |
Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Sundays |
How much is the league fee?
The fee differs from season to season. Please visit the Adult Soccer page and click on the season you are interested in participating in.
My team wants to play in the Coed league, is there a certain amount of women needed to play?
There must be two women per team on the field at all times during coed matches. If your team only has one woman, then you will be forced to play a man down.
Where is my team’s schedule?
Team schedules are available on our Team Standings page.
Are the league rules at Chelsea Piers different from other leagues?
A full breakdown of the rules is available within the schedule of the season in which you are participating. You can get there from the Team Standings page. Just click the button that corresponds to your season, then click the Sport Rules button at the top. For example, Spring 2009 season rules are located here.
What do we get if we win?
Each team that wins their division’s championship gets half off for the following season as well as a team trophy.
How do I win the Golden Boot?
The Golden Boot is awarded to the leading scorer in each division at the end of every season. Note that this is for the entire division, not just per night.
Can I use the fields if there are no games or events being held?
Whenever the fields are not in use, patrons are allowed to play during “open soccer” hours. The cost is $10 per hour per person. Soccer balls are provided. The schedule changes from day-to-day, so call the front desk on the day you want to play at 212.336.6500 ext. 0.
Can I rent the field?
Fields are available to rent whenever there are no games or events scheduled. The fee is $275 per hour, or $175 per hour for league customers. Call the front desk to schedule a field rental at 212.336.6500 ext. 0.
