As part of his morning radio show, Don Imus and WFAN asked us to create an event that he dubbed "Fear at the Pier." We transformed the basketball courts and boxing ring at the Sports Center health club into an arena for a 3-round boxing tournament. With bleacher seating for 200, a catered sit-down breakfast for Imus Ranch donors and platform seating for commentators, the venue was converted into media-friendly boxing extravaganza. Supplementary lighting hung from trusses to guarantee optimum filming for the live two hour MSNBC broadcast.
Having already successfully shot a task for Season 2 at Chelsea Piers, Donald Trump's The Apprentice came to the Piers to film its much-anticipated Season 3 Finale. Recreating a mini summer Olympics, event planners at the Sports Center health club utilized the track, sand volleyball court, pool and basketball courts to stage this Olympic microcosm. A medal ceremony crowned winners in the boxing ring while the spin studio and rock wall areas were cordoned off for catering and staging.
