Pier Park, at the western end of Pier 62, is a quiet waterside refuge just blocks from hectic midtown streets. Sea breezes and harbor sounds create a miles-away atmosphere as ships pass in the river channel, water lops against the piers and ducks swim near the pilings. Large wooden planters, filled with wild flowers, beach grasses and other coastal plants, enhance the shoreside ambiance. Benches, picnic tables, and a wooden shade structure make the park a comfortable place to relax or to picnic with friends and enjoy spectacular river views.
