ADULT
GYMNASTS COMPETE IN SPRING OPEN MASTERS GYMNASTICS
MEET AT THE FIELD HOUSE AT CHELSEA PIERS
It's not just for kids!
Contrary
to popular belief, gymnastics is not just for kids.
Adults like Angie Melton, a 38-year-old businesswoman,
and Peter Orland, a 42-year-old physics professor, will
help prove this fact on Saturday evening, April 4, 1998
at the Chelsea Piers Spring Open Masters Gymnastics
Meet. The competition begins at 8:00 PM.
Men
and women will compete in three age groups: 18-23, 24-29,
and 30 and Over. Men will compete in all six men's events
(floor exercise, vault, pommel horse, high bar, parallel
bars and rings). Women will compete in all four women's
events (vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise).
Medals will be awarded for Best All Around in men's
and women's categories, and ribbons will be awarded
for 1st-3rd placements in each event per age group.
Previous
adult meets have attracted competitors from New York
City, Long Island, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. This
event has already registered adult gymnasts from as
far away as California.
General
admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children. The
Field House at Chelsea Piers is located at Pier 62,
23rd Street and the Hudson River, easily accessible
by public transportation, car, taxi, bike, blades, boat
and foot!
