CHELSEA
PIERS TO OPEN PIER SIXTY
MANHATTAN'S NEWEST AND MOST EXCITING PRIVATE EVENT
SPACE
The Most Spectacular Space in Town!
Chelsea
Piers Management, Inc. is proud to announce the final
phase of construction of the elegant and innovative
PIER SIXTY. Located at the tip of one of the
four historic Chelsea Piers, PIER SIXTY is scheduled
to open September 1, 1998, and will offer an exquisite
new setting for corporate and social events of all kinds.
According
to Roland W. Betts, Chairman of Chelsea Piers Management,
"Construction is on schedule. We are very proud of this
beautiful new event space, opening onto the Hudson River.
We feel confident that PIER SIXTY will quickly
become a New York City favorite, not only because of
its spectacular views, but also because of the food,
services and amenities."
With
expansive walls of 14-foot-high, glazed windows offering
panoramic views of the Hudson River, and retractable,
sound-proof walls permitting great flexibility, the
21,000-square-foot, column-free PIER SIXTY will
offer opportunities for simultaneous events of any size,
from corporate gatherings to intimate weddings to gala
charity balls. Dinners from 75 to 1,500 persons can
be comfortably accommodated, and PIER SIXTY can
easily host receptions for up to 2,400 guests.
PIER
SIXTY features the award-winning cuisine and complete
banquet services of Abigail Kirsch. Known for its originality
and good taste, Abigail Kirsch is one of the New York
metropolitan area's most celebrated catering and banquet
management companies. Every event will enjoy the superb
food and quality service that are the basis of the Kirsch
family's excellent reputation.
Abigail
Kirsch, whose family has been catering events in public
spaces, homes and offices, as well as at the Kirsch's
Tappan Hill and New York Botanical Garden venues, for
the past 26 years, said "We are very pleased to bring
this much-needed venue to the New York scene. The event-planning
community is delighted to have an exciting addition
to the very limited number of venues that can comfortably
accommodate more than 600 and well over 1,200 for dinner.
The concept of bringing all the amenities of a hotel
banquet department to an open, airy waterfront location
has resulted in 1998 bookings beyond our highest espectations.
We are committed to making this an exciting experience
of excellence in every way."
For
much of the first half of this century, Chelsea Piers
was the world's premiere passenger ship terminal. Its
docks welcomed the great luxury liners, and the rich
and powerful flocked to Chelsea Piers to be interviewed
and photographed leaving for, or returning from, Europe
in grand style. Today, with the rebirth of Chelsea Piers
into New York City's premiere waterfront destination,
this grand style is recreated in spectacular new ballrooms,
named for the liners that once docked here. Once inside
the four beautiful ballrooms (Majestic, Olympic,
Oceanic and Acquitania), one experiences
a sensation akin to being aboard one of those great
ships. The breathtaking views of the Hudson River, with
the Statue of Liberty in the background, create an extraordinary
setting for any event.
At
the western tip of PIER SIXTY is a covered terrace,
120 feet long by 20 feet wide, perfect for outdoor cocktails
in season. When enclosed and heated, it is also the
perfect spot for year-round celebrating. In addition,
there is a completely-open upper terrace that is most
inviting on balmy evenings. Projecting out into the
river, both terraces convey the feeling of being aboard
the bow of a ship.
PIER
SIXTY boasts cherrywood columns and wall panels,
terrazzo floors, and a 5,000-square-foot banquet kitchen,
designed to expedite the preparation and serving of
fine food with exquisite precision. For business meetings,
press conferences and other corporate events, PIER
SIXTY is equipped with all the necessary wiring
for computers, modems, faxes, telephones, ISDN and T-1
lines, which provide clients with high-speed internet
access for state-of-the-art presentations.
Chelsea
Piers is conveniently located at West 23rd Street and
the Hudson River, easily accessible by taxi, limousine
or private car. Upon arrival at the covered entrance
courtyard, there is a taxi drop-off and attendant parking.
With
its dazzling environment and the impeccable service
and superb cuisine of Abigail Kirsch, an event at PIER
SIXTY will surely make history! Yours
