Rinks
Been
promising yourself that this is the summer you'll learn
how to in-line skate? Here's your chance! Pull those
skates out of the closet and head over to Chelsea Piers
this Saturday for FREE BladeFitness Basic Training by
Rollerblade. Classes will be held at 12pm, 1pm, and
2pm at the Roller Rinks at Chelsea Piers, located at
23rd Street & the Hudson River. Whether you are a total
beginner or looking to improve your skills, all ages
and abilities are welcome.
In-line
skating, one of the nation's fastest-growing forms of
exercise, actually burns the same amount of calories
as running with much less impact shock to the joints.
Blading also targets the hips, thighs, and buttocks
and has proved more effective than cycling or step-aerobics
in slimming down those trouble spots.
All
classes will be taught by Margarett Dykstra, General
Manager of the Roller Rinks at Chelsea Piers and Director
of Fitness Instruction for Rollerblade. Participants
are welcome to bring their own equipment or rent it
at the Roller Rinks. Classes are limited to 50 people
