The Dance Institute at the Field House at Chelsea Piers is proud to announce the arrival of a new division of Ballet School NY, now offering ballet and modern dance classes for children and adults in our 1,400-sq.ft. air conditioned dance studios. Ballet School NY was founded by Diana Byer in 1978 as the official training school of the New York Theatre Ballet. The school teaches dance as a total art form, developing strong technical skills and discipline -- fluidity and ease of movement -- and a strong sense of theatre, style, musicality and expression. All classes are taught to the highest standard by a faculty of accomplished professionals.

Ballet School NY's relationship to New York Theatre Ballet enables it to provide qualified students with performance opportunities. Whether students are considering or already pursuing a career in dance, or seeking creative personal fulfillment, they are taught with the same professional care and attention.

The Dance Institute also offers Jazz, Tap and Introduction to Dance classes for children (beginning at age 24 months) and adults. Classes emphasize the importance of rhythm, technique and control, while encouraging strength, confidence and flexibility.
