THE DIME AND CHELSEA PIERS PRESENT
ICE SKATING IN CHINATOWN

The Dime Savings Bank of New York, FSB, and Chelsea Piers, will host an ice dancing exhibition at The Dime's Chinatown branch, 221 Canal Street, on Friday, June 9, 2000 from 11:00 AM until 4:00 PM. Starring in the performance is Tian Yi Zhang, three-time National Ice Dance Champion of China.

This ice skating exhibition is part of The Dime Branch Outreach Program, a series of local events designed to build relationships with customers and give something back to the community as a whole.

Tian Yi Zhang will be joined by Steven Liu and Jessica Li, two teaching professionals in the Skating School at Sky Rink at Chelsea Piers. The professional ice dancers, and some children from Sky Rink's youth program, will perform on artificial ice positioned inside the Dime Chinatown branch. "We are delighted that Tian Yi Zhang will, literally, glide among our customers and visitors inside our Chinatown branch," said Donna Wilson, Vice President and Director of Community Affairs. "We'd like to thank her and our long-time partner, Chelsea Piers."

"I am thrilled to bring my talents to the Chinese community, " said Tian Yi. "I'm sure this is the first time that anyone has ever ice skated in the middle of a bank on Canal Street."

Tian Yi Zhang was born in Harbin, China, where she began skating at age seven. In addition to being National Ice Dance Champion of China in 1995, 1996 and 1997, she was also the Silver Medalist in the Asia Championships in 1996. She currently teaches at the Sky Rink Skating School at Chelsea Piers, and is a member of the Ensemble of Ice Theatre of New York.

As part of the day's event, Chelsea Piers will give free ice skating passes and lessons to anyone opening a checking or money market account with The Dime. In addition, Family of Four general skating coupons will be distributed to everyone who attends.
