CHELSEA
PIERS PRESENTS FOURTH EDITION OF
FREE ANNUAL ICE SHOW, HOLIDAY ON THE HUDSON
New
York City's Best On-Ice Holiday Event!
On Friday, December 8, 2000 at 7:00 PM at Sky Rink (Pier
61), Chelsea Piers will present the Fourth Edition of
HOLIDAY ON THE HUDSON, a free evening of figure skating
performances and holiday music. One of a continuing
series of free events, HOLIDAY ON THE HUDSON is Chelsea
Piers' holiday gift to the city. It is expected to play
to a capacity audience of 1,600. Presenting Sponsor
is The Dime Savings Bank.
Starring
in the evening's performance will be two-time Swedish
National Champion Emanuele Ancorini; one of New York
City's favorite singers Sidney J. Burgoyne; 1962 World
Champion and Olympic medalist Don Jackson (a Canadian
and the first person ever to land a triple Lutz); internationally-acclaimed
Irish vocalist Mairead; U.S. National and International
Team members Christen Dean & Josh Murphy; and three-time
Chinese Ice Dance Champion Tian Yi Zhang. Featured in
the performance will be the country's premiere ice dance
ensemble, the renowned Ice Theatre of New York (featuring
three-time Olympian David Liu); children from the Sky
Rink Skating School; and the musical group The Hollytones.
Special
Guest Artists include astounding ice acrobats Alexei
Polishuk & Vladimir Besedin from Ukraine, featuring
a special appearance by 8-year-old Anna Besedin; Israeli
National Champion and two-time Olympian Michael Shmerkin;
and current Russian Silver Medalists Tatiana Navka &
Roman Kostomarov. As always, Mr. S. Claus from Up North
and Rudolph will make a special appearance. The show
is produced and directed for Chelsea Piers by Jack W.
Batman.
This
is a free event, but because of space limitations in
the arena, tickets are required. Tickets must be picked
up in person, beginning November 24, 2000, at the Chelsea
Piers Store on the Main Plaza, 23rd Street and the Hudson
River. Limit 2 tickets per person. Ticketholders are
encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to support
the Marine Corps Reserve holiday program, Toys For Tots.
Immediately following the performance, there will be
one hour of complimentary open skating for all ticketholders.
