FREE ANNUAL ICE SHOW, HOLIDAY ON THE HUDSON

New York City's Best On-Ice Holiday Event!

On Friday, December 8, 2000 at 7:00 PM at Sky Rink (Pier 61), Chelsea Piers will present the Fourth Edition of HOLIDAY ON THE HUDSON, a free evening of figure skating performances and holiday music. One of a continuing series of free events, HOLIDAY ON THE HUDSON is Chelsea Piers' holiday gift to the city. It is expected to play to a capacity audience of 1,600. Presenting Sponsor is The Dime Savings Bank.

Starring in the evening's performance will be two-time Swedish National Champion Emanuele Ancorini; one of New York City's favorite singers Sidney J. Burgoyne; 1962 World Champion and Olympic medalist Don Jackson (a Canadian and the first person ever to land a triple Lutz); internationally-acclaimed Irish vocalist Mairead; U.S. National and International Team members Christen Dean & Josh Murphy; and three-time Chinese Ice Dance Champion Tian Yi Zhang. Featured in the performance will be the country's premiere ice dance ensemble, the renowned Ice Theatre of New York (featuring three-time Olympian David Liu); children from the Sky Rink Skating School; and the musical group The Hollytones.

Special Guest Artists include astounding ice acrobats Alexei Polishuk & Vladimir Besedin from Ukraine, featuring a special appearance by 8-year-old Anna Besedin; Israeli National Champion and two-time Olympian Michael Shmerkin; and current Russian Silver Medalists Tatiana Navka & Roman Kostomarov. As always, Mr. S. Claus from Up North and Rudolph will make a special appearance. The show is produced and directed for Chelsea Piers by Jack W. Batman.

This is a free event, but because of space limitations in the arena, tickets are required. Tickets must be picked up in person, beginning November 24, 2000, at the Chelsea Piers Store on the Main Plaza, 23rd Street and the Hudson River. Limit 2 tickets per person. Ticketholders are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to support the Marine Corps Reserve holiday program, Toys For Tots. Immediately following the performance, there will be one hour of complimentary open skating for all ticketholders. For more information, please call 212.336.6881.
