CHELSEA PIERS ANNOUNCES GRAND OPENING
OF NEW EXTREME PARK

Full Day of FREE Activities Planned

On Saturday, March 24, 2001, Chelsea Piers proudly presents the Grand Opening of its new and expanded Extreme Park! Inline skaters, skateboarders, and BMX riders will enjoy free skating sessions in addition to skating demonstrations, free lessons, contests, raffles, prizes and food.

Now over 20,000 square feet, The Extreme Park at Chelsea Piers has expanded to over four times its former size and includes more equipment for skateboarders and BMX riders, as well as a larger fun box for aggressive skaters, more open space to ease congestion, and a separate area for beginners.

The Extreme Park has been New York City's premier Skate Park since its opening in 1997, offering daily skating sessions, clinics, private lessons, Extreme birthday party packages, Saturday night DJ parties, and a nationally-known summer-camp.

Free 1½-hour skating sessions begin at 10am, 11:30am, 2pm, and 2:30pm. Free ½ hour group lessons begin at 12pm and 12:30pm. The Extreme Park is located on Pier 62, Chelsea Piers, at 23rd Street and the Hudson River, in New York City. In the event of inclement weather, a rain date is planned for Sunday, March 25.
