PIERS ANNOUNCES GRAND OPENING
OF NEW EXTREME PARK

Day of FREE Activities Planned
On
Saturday, March 24, 2001, Chelsea Piers proudly presents
the Grand Opening of its new and expanded Extreme
Park! Inline skaters, skateboarders, and BMX riders
will enjoy free skating sessions in addition to skating
demonstrations, free lessons, contests, raffles,
prizes and food.
Now
over 20,000 square feet, The Extreme Park at Chelsea
Piers has expanded to over four times its former
size and includes more equipment for skateboarders
and BMX riders, as well as a larger fun box for aggressive
skaters, more open space to ease congestion, and
a separate area for beginners.
The
Extreme Park has been New York City's premier Skate
Park since its opening in 1997, offering daily skating
sessions, clinics, private lessons, Extreme birthday
party packages, Saturday night DJ parties, and a
nationally-known summer-camp.
Free
1½-hour skating sessions begin at 10am, 11:30am,
2pm, and 2:30pm. Free ½ hour group lessons
begin at 12pm and 12:30pm. The Extreme Park is located
on Pier 62, Chelsea Piers, at 23rd Street and the
Hudson River, in New York City. In the event of inclement
weather, a rain date is planned for Sunday, March
