Beginning June 21, 2001 Freezer Burn
For six weeks, beginning June 21, Sky Rink's own Greg Wittrock returns with an all-new expanded run of his one-of-a-kind show of theatre art on ice, Freezer Burn. With a supporting cast of five accomplished skaters, Greg creates a moving, funny and visually inventive tale of personal discovery (with a loving wink at urban culture) featuring dozens of memorable characters like Ronnie Resentment, Cleana Spotless and Demandra Now. Freezer Burn is a blending of different art forms-ice skating, papier mache masks, movement theater, projected original art, and a wide range of evocative music. Greg uses the unique properties of ice to expand the vocabulary of physical language to tell an old story. Performances are scheduled for June 21, 28, July 6, 13, 20 and 27 at 10:00pm at Sky Rink at Chelsea Piers. June 22-24, 2001 The Chelsea Challenge 2001
The New York City Gay Hockey Association presents The Chelsea Challenge 2001 Ice Hockey Tournament. Teams from the United States and Canada will be competing in this summer hockey tournament held during NYC's Heritage of Pride Weekend, the world's largest GLBT pride celebration. Games will be played Friday evening and Saturday morning and evening, with the championship games scheduled for Sunday morning. A skills competition on Saturday and special guest stars make this event a highlight of the Pride Week calendar. There is no charge for spectators. Sky Rink at Chelsea Piers.
