THE
SPORTS CENTER AT CHELSEA PIERS ANNOUNCES THE FIRST
ANNUAL
CHELSEA CLIMBER'S CUP COMPETITION
The
Sports Center at Chelsea Piers announces our first
city-wide, open climbing competition on December
8, 2001 at the Sports Center at Chelsea Piers, New
York's ultimate climbing gym. Competitors will have
the opportunity to test their overall ability in
three stages of competition: speed climbing, onsite
route flashing, and speed difficulties. The opportunity
to tackle the bouldering wall, overhang lead roof
and the enormity of the wall itself will allow climbers
from all over New York City and the surrounding areas
to test ability levels on the biggest rock wall on
the east coast. All aspects of climbing will be challenged.
The
three stages will offer climbers the truest test
of pure strength, speed and technical climbing ability
determining a winner by weeding out the competition.
The competition, to be held on Saturday, December
8, 2001, will begin at 12:00pm and will conclude
when a winner is decided. Prizes will be awarded
to all who compete; however, special prizes (round
trip airline tickets courtesy of Delta Airlines and
climbing equipment from Five.Ten.) will be awarded
to the top three finishers in both the Men's and
Women's divisions.
All
entrants will receive a Paragon sports hat and karabiner,
Sports Center day pass, and a balance bar. Come on
down and sign up at the Sports Center, 23rd Street
and the Hudson River, or call 212.336.6000 to register
- you don't need to be a member to register. Be sure
to register early as the competition is limited to
100 entries. Spectators are invited to watch the
competition for $15. |
