SKY
RINK AT CHELSEA PIERS LOOKS AHEAD
TO SALT LAKE CITY OLYMPICS AND BEYOND
The
XIX Olympic Winter Games are scheduled for February
8-24, 2002 in Salt Lake City, and Sky Rink at Chelsea
Piers is ready to celebrate.
To
capture some of the excitement of Salt Lake, Sky
Rink will offer an astonishing series of programs
and activities throughout the months of February
and March, including incredible Gold Medal Discounts
at the Sky Rink Skating School, which has been teaching
New Yorkers to skate for over 30 years. Enroll during
February and March and receive 8 classes for the
price of 7.
The
celebration will include weekly exhibitions featuring
Sky Rink Stars of the New Millennium, some of the
talented young skaters now training at the arena.
These exhibitions will be held every Saturday in
February and March at 11:45am and are free for all.
Also, on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the period,
experienced Sky Rink instructors will be on hand
with an hour of free skating tips during general
sessions. Saturday times are 12:30-1:30pm and Sundays
are from 3:30-4:30pm. The skating tips program is
made possible by the support of New York-Presbyterian
Hospital, official sponsor of Chelsea Piers.
Throughout
the Games, there will be Olympics coverage parties
in the beautifully-appointed Club Lounge at Sky Rink,
featuring refreshments to accompany figure skating,
hockey and speed skating events. A skating professional
will be on hand giving commentary, analyzing jumps
and other aspects of the technical programs, and
answering questions. Daily event results will be
posted in the Sky Rink lobby. And don't forget to
enter the Olympics Trivia Contest, with great prizes
awarded every week. Plus, look for special guest
appearances throughout February and March.
Sky
Rink, New York's only year-round, twin-rink indoor
ice skating arena, operating 24 hours a day, seven
days a week, welcomes skaters of all ages and abilities
for general skating sessions, figure skating, hockey
training and league play. The Sky Rink Skating School
offers private instruction and group classes for
skaters of all ages, taught by a professional coaching
staff that includes former national and international
champions and Olympic competitors and coaches. The
extensive hockey program for youth and adult players
includes prep classes, clinics and league play. |
