CHELSEA PIERS LAUNCHES
NEW KIDS PROGRAMMING TARGETING INFANTS TO THREE YEAR
OLDS
Additional Classes
to Complement Existing Toddler Programs
(New York, NY – January 13, 2005) -
After nearly ten years of catering almost exclusively
to kids three and over, Chelsea Piers has launched
a series of new classes aimed at the toddler age group.
In addition to the new programming, Chelsea Piers
has also recently revamped the Toddler Adventure Center
(6 months to 4 years) adding a two story climbing
station, an eight-foot by eight-foot ball pit, side-by-side
slides, travel connecting tubes, and a suspension
bridge.
“For years we have been known as the premier
destination in NYC for kids to do gymnastics, rock
climb, play soccer and basketball and have birthday
parties,” commented Mollie Marcoux, General
Manager of the Field House. “With the addition
of these toddler classes, we are now able to cater
to the younger siblings of our customers. Our goal
at the Field House is to nurture kids throughout their
lives in NYC.”
Some of the classes focusing on the infant to 3 year
old include:
Music and Movement – 6 months to 18 months
Through the magic of music and movement parents and children explore
the sensory pleasures of learning and growing together through listening
and creating. Experienced Field House staff members lead the child and
parent/caretaker through a variety of interactive musical games and activities
while developing social skills.
Tiny Tots – 15-24 months
Using creative play and nurturing instruction, parents and their young
toddlers are introduced to the magic of movement in gymnastics. Age-appropriate
activities and a flexible class environment provide the parent and
child with the freedom to explore and enjoy movement individually.
Tumblin’ Tots – 24-36 months
Tumblin’ Tots classes are designed to encourage group activity
as well as individual participation. Classes provide a structured environment
with a consistent class routine where children begin to accomplish their
own goals within the structure of the class. Tumblin’ Tots classes
build a strong foundation for children to develop a sense of athletic
achievement, self-esteem, and social skills.
The Toddler Adventure Center
This interactive play center, for children ages three and under, features
a two-story climbing station, an eight foot by eight foot ball pit, side-by-side
slides, travel connecting tubes, and a suspension bridge. The walls of
the Adventure Center are lined with colorful children’s manual
dexterity panels, which challenge children to think creatively using
their hands. Additionally, there are numerous padded, shaped mats for
children to play on.
About The Field House
The 80,000-square-foot Field House at Chelsea Piers opened in 1995. Its
athletic facilities and children’s programs are unrivaled by
any other venue in the city. The gymnastics center is the only gymnastics
facility in New York City sanctioned for competition by USA Gymnastics.
Two hardwood basketball courts and two artificial–turf playing
fields are used for sports clinics and leagues for children and adults.
Drop-in activities include the Toddler Adventure Center, batting cages,
open gym/open climb, basketball and soccer. The Field House recently
opened a Child Care center and offers classes for children six months
and older. Also available are birthday parties, dance, martial arts,
and corporate team building activities.
