CHELSEA PIERS TURNS 10!
Hosts Public Events, Launches
CP FIT Initiative,
Makes Scholarship Fund Donation, and Announces
Sweepstakes
(New York, NY - April 7, 2005) - Chelsea Piers
today announced plans to celebrate its 10th Anniversary. The 30-acre
sports and entertainment complex opened its first venue, Sky Rink,
in 1995, followed shortly thereafter by the Field House, Golf Club,
Sports Center and AMF Chelsea Piers Lanes. In 1998, Chelsea Piers
added two event centers, Pier Sixty and The Lighthouse.
Since opening, Chelsea Piers has made a significant contribution
to the city of New York, from inspiring confidence for redevelopment
in the West Chelsea neighborhood, to giving New Yorkers of all
ages and abilities a place to play 28 different sports.
"We are very excited to be celebrating the past 10 years in New
York," commented Roland W. Betts, Chairman of Chelsea Piers. "It's
hard to believe ten years have already gone by.
"It's also amazing to look at how the community and the waterfront
have changed since we arrived," added Tom A. Bernstein, President
of Chelsea Piers. "We are proud to have helped bring about this
exciting revitilization."
Chelsea Piers will celebrate the 10th Anniversary with the following
activities:
Public Events and Promotions
Anniversary plans include an "open house" to benefit the Chelsea Piers
Scholarship Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization, monthly giveaways, three
public fitness events, and special deals and prices at each venue. Some
of the 10th Anniversary specials include: reduced pricing for general
skating at Sky Rink, 10% more on certain purchases at the Golf Club,
and a wide variety of promotions on the 10th of each month. Three free,
public events (Fitness on Ice, Summer Skate and Let's Just Play) will
offer fitness instruction and tips at the various Chelsea Piers facilities.
The CP FIT Initiative
Recognizing that Americans and New Yorkers alike are experiencing the
harmful effects of high rates of obesity and inactivity, Chelsea Piers
created the CP FIT initiative to support and encourage healthy, active
lifestyles. In addition to three free public fitness events, Chelsea
Piers will also distribute fitness and nutrition tips written by its
elite trainers, coaches and nutritionists. Additionally, Chelsea Piers
is partnering with Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York to invite 3,000
New York City children and their matches to visit Chelsea Piers and
participate in fitness-themed events.
Scholarship Fund Donation
The Chelsea Piers Scholarship Fund has committed to raising $1 million
over the next ten years. As part of this effort, Chelsea Piers is pledging
$500,000 to the Scholarship Fund over the next ten years. The Chelsea
Piers Scholarship fund is a not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) fund established
and run by independent volunteers. The Fund's mission is to provide
New York City children in need with the opportunity to experience the
enormous benefits and enjoyment of participation in athletics. The
Fund provides partial and full scholarships to summer sports camps,
competitive gymnastics teams, instructional classes in fitness, gymnastics,
ice skating, golf, ice hockey, , soccer, baseball, basketball, and
appropriate youth leagues and tournaments. In addition, the Scholarship
Fund sponsors sports programs for schools and after-school programs
in need of financial assistance.

In celebration of its 10th Anniversary, Chelsea Piers will award one
lucky Chelsea Piers customer a one-year All Access Pass to the Chelsea
Piers complex. Chelsea Piers customers are eligible to enter the sweepstakes,
which will run from April 7th to June 20th, any time they visit the
Piers. The winner will receive a one-year membership to the Sports

New Advertising Campaign
In celebration of its 10th Anniversary, Chelsea Piers is introducing
a new advertising campaign, designed by Della Femina Rothschild and
Partners. The creative is comprised of images of Chelsea Piers customers
ice skating, working out, having a massage, skateboarding, doing gymnastics,
and playing ice hockey, basketball and soccer. The tag line --"It's
been a great 10 years. Thanks for playing your heart out New York"--
speaks to Chelsea Piers' impact on the fabric of the city of New York.
