Chelsea Piers to Provide Scholarships to "Littles,"
Host Kick-Off Party, Donate Passes, and More

(New York, NY - April 22, 2005) - Chelsea Piers is delighted to announce that it will work with Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York (BigsNYC) on an initiative to promote fitness and active lifestyles for BigsNYC's 3,000 "bigs" and "littles." This initiative is part of Chelsea Piers' 10th Anniversary Celebration that will continue throughout the year.

Chelsea Piers will open its doors to BigsNYC by providing complimentary passes that can be used by the Big Brothers and Big Sisters during weekend outings with their "littles." These passes can be used for ice-skating, in-line skating, batting cages, and golf; older teens will be able to work out at the Sports Center health club. In addition, BigsNYC will enjoy a kick-off skating event at Sky Rink at Chelsea Piers in May. BigsNYC will also be invited to attend complimentary CP FIT events that are scheduled in July, August and September 2005.

Additionally, the Chelsea Piers Youth Scholarship Fund has agreed to provide scholarships for "littles" to attend the Chelsea Piers Summer Sports Camp and fitness classes that utilize kid-friendly muscle toning and cardio equipment to both encourage and motivate children while introducing them to innovative and fun new ways to exercise.

"We are grateful that one of NYC's homeruns, Chelsea Piers, is opening its doors so that our matches, the Big Brothers and Sisters and their 'Littles' will have an opportunity for active experiences," said, Allan Luks, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC. "What better way to share an afternoon together than while skating, working out or playing baseball? What better way to teach the importance of good health while bringing folks from different backgrounds together than through good old-fashioned athletic activities," added Luks.

"Chelsea Piers is excited to be partnering with Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York," commented Dana B. Thayer, Senior Vice President of Chelsea Piers. "Many of the 'Bigs' are already our customers, so we know that this program will be enthusiastically embraced. We look forward to welcoming the children enrolled in the BigsNYC program and hope to help encourage them to pursue healthy, active lifestyles."

About Chelsea Piers
The Chelsea Piers Sports & Entertainment Complex is a 30-acre waterfront sports village located between 18th and 23rd Streets along Manhattan's Hudson River. Opened in 1995, Chelsea Piers has transformed four historic, long-neglected piers into a major center for public recreation and waterfront access. Situated on Piers 59, 60, 61 and 62 and in the headhouse that connects them, the Complex features over 28 sports and several entertainment venues.

About Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City
Since 1904 Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City (BigsNYC) has been creating programs to address the very latest issues (immigrant youth, racial tensions, teen moms, 9/11, new legislation to protect children from abuse) and inspiring adults and corporations to immeasurably enrich a child's life as well as their own by volunteering. BigsNYC is the first formalized mentoring program in the United States. Its case managers carefully screen adults who are interested in spending 6-10 hours a month with school-age children, primarily from single-parent families. Accepted volunteers are matched for a minimum of one year. For more information, visit: BigsNYC.org or call: 1-888-BigsNYC.
