Though you might not be joining the ranks of the Marines, we still want you to be the best you can be. The Sport Center’s Boot Camp class is designed to get you into tip-top shape (especially as the summer skin-baring months approach!). Lead by drill instructor, Warren Smith, this dynamic cardiovascular and muscular conditioning workout is not for the casual gym-goer, but for experienced fitness fanatics who are ready to push the envelope of their normal workout routine.
The hour-long class kicks off with some aerobic moves to quickly elevate your heart rate, where it remains for the duration of class. Downtime eludes participants as Warren barks out commands and reminds you that “anything worth working for is not going to be easy.” The nonstop action provides a total body workout by combining strength work and agility using an aerobic step, weights, resistance bands and physio balls. Be prepared to do 50 repetitions of tricep dips, hold mid-dip for 30 more seconds and move straight into 50 pushups while balancing your legs on a physio ball. A round of bicycle crunches enhanced with a resistance band is followed by a lap around the 400-meter track. Feel the burn, but reap the reward of knowing you pushed yourself to your max.
