Anecdotally, we always
"feel better" after a massage. However, research has shown that the
benefits of a massage are more far-reaching than simply a de-stressor. A
recent article in the New York Times, details these benefits and
it’s certainly worth a read for all athletes.
It is wonderful that we now
have proof of the hormonal and immune system effects of massage. This
research allows us to see massage as an important component of our health
routine, and not just an indulgence.
As
a reminder, most FSA plans will allow for reimbursement of massage to treat a
specific injury or trauma. Hopefully, in the future and as more is known
about the preventive benefits of massage, all massage will be reimbursable. In
the meantime, book a massage today and feel the benefits for yourself. Members
receive 20% off all services.
