What are the Camp dates and tuition?

The Chelsea Piers Summer Sports Camp runs all summer, from late June through the first week of September. We know how difficult it is to coordinate summer plans, so we have packaged our camps into weekly sessions, whatever works best for your family's schedule. Please email camps@chelseapiers.com to request a brochure with specific information on this year's dates, sessions, and tuition or view/print the program-specific brochures from the list on the right. Is transportation available?

For an additional charge, licensed school bus vans, fully equipped with seat belts and two-way radio dispatch, will pick up and drop off campers at convenient corners within each major residential district of Manhattan and in parts of Brooklyn.

If my child attended camp last summer (2009) and 2008, is there an easy way to re-enroll for this summer?

If your child was enrolled in our summer camp last year, re-enrollment for camp is simple! Visit our Summer Camp website and click on the green "Log Into Your Account" button. Enter the email address you used last summer to enroll your child and enter in your password. If you forgot your password, just click on "reset your account settings now". Or you can call the Summer Camp Office to speak with someone about retrieving your account log in information. Once you have successfully logged in, click on "Start Registration for 2010", scroll down to the saved Camper Information and click on the green "Enroll in Camp" button.

Are meals provided?

Chelsea Piers provides nourishing, well-balanced, and generous lunches for all campers. The midday break is a time when campers relax, meet with friends and share experiences with children from other camps at Chelsea Piers.

Is there an After Care program?

To allow parents to complete their work day, Chelsea Piers offers an after care program in the Field House from 4:30PM to 6:00PM each day. Parents may register for one-day ($30 per day) or up to five days per week ($120/week).

Do you have a basketball camp?

While Chelsea Piers does not offer a basketball-specific Summer Camp, our Sports Academy, for children ages 5 - 12 years, includes basketball along with soccer, baseball, volleyball, kickball and more. Click here to download the Sports Academy brochure. Another option is the Five-Star BlueStreak Basketball Academy, which is run through Chelsea Piers BlueStreak, located on Pier 60. This intensive training camp is designed for athletes 12-17 years. Click here for more information.

Is bowling part of the curriculum?

Campers have the unique opportunity to bowl once a week at 300 New York's 40-lane facility as part of their daily recreational period. Campers will learn basic bowling techniques and much more.

How do I enroll my child in the Sky Rink Champions Camp for Figure Skating?

Enrollment for this higher level figure skating camp is processed through the Sky Rink Figure Skating department. You can download the Champions Camp brochure and application from the navigation bar to the right, but please submit to Sky Rink, at fax number 212.336.6130. Call 212.336.6100, ext. 6168 or 6162.

Post-Enrollment

If my child is already enrolled in camp for this summer, is there an easy way to add weeks or make changes to the weeks my child is already enrolled in?

If your child is already enrolled in weeks for summer camp, adding more weeks or making changes is simple! Visit our Summer Camp website and click on the green "Log Into Your Account" button. Once you are logged in, click on the "Edit Registration for 2010" button, scroll down to the save Camper Information and click on the green "Edit Camp Enrollment" button.

Now that I’ve enrolled my child in camp, how do I get to Chelsea Piers?

We offer a bus service that provides pick-up and drop-off at multiple locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Chelsea Piers is also easily accessible by car or public transportation. On-site parking is available with a free 20-minute grace period, and the M23 bus, which runs across 23rd street stopping at all the avenues, stops at the entrance to Chelsea Piers. If my child will be taking the bus to camp, when should we expect to receive confirmation on the time and place of pick up and drop off?

You will receive a call or an email from the camp office Wednesday - Friday of the week before your child will be attending camp with information on pick-up and drop-off times, and your location, for each week your child is enrolled in camp.

When arriving on the first day, where should I check in and drop off my child?

Each camp has a designated check-in desk at the front of the facility (Sky Rink, the Field House, the Golf Club, the Sports Center, and the 300 New York bowling center), most commonly near the facility’s front desk, where counselors will be seated at a table with a list of campers to check in. The set-up will be the same in the afternoon during check-out.

Should my child bring a bag or backpack? If so, what should I pack?

It is not necessary to pack anything for camp. However, if you would like to pack a snack or water bottle, or extra clothing, please make sure the bag is clearly marked with you child’s name, and it will be stored safely by the camp’s staff. Please do not pack any cell phones, iPods or any items of value. Chelsea Piers is not responsible for lost items.

If my child takes medication during the day, how will it be administered to him/her?

Chelsea Piers Summer Camps have athletic trainers who monitor the safety of the campers and who are in charge of dispensing medication to any child who has a note or instruction from the parents and the medication itself.

Will there be snack and drink breaks during the day?

Yes. There are water fountains easily available at each camp venue. The pre-school camps have a designated snack time. Most other camp programs have time during the day where the campers can purchase snacks from a snack machine. Please provide your child with some change or dollar bills, if you would like them to be able to purchase a snack or beverage from our vending machines.

What should my child wear to camp?

We ask that your child always have sneakers and socks. If your child is attending Ice Skating Camp, skating leotards, long sleeve t-shirts, pants or leggings and gloves are recommended.

If you child is attending Ice Hockey Camp, all the appropriate hockey gear and equipment is required. For more complete information, please refer to our Camp Handbook.

Are there any performance opportunities for the gymnasts or ice skaters?

Yes. Once every two weeks, the Gymnastics and Ice Skating camps will have the opportunity to showcase their newly acquired skills in a show. We encourage parents to attend these bi-weekly performances. Please contact the camp office for show dates and times.

What is the counselor to camper ratio in the camp?

For ages 3-5 (pre-school), there is a 1-6 ratio.
For age 6, there is a 1-6 ratio.
For age 7, there is a 1-7 ratio.
For age 8, there is a 1-8 ratio.
For age 9, there is a 1-9 ratio.
For ages 10+, there is a 1-10 ratio.

Is there swimming? Tennis?

Swimming and tennis programs are not offered at Chelsea Piers Summer Sports Camp.

Is there recreation time during the day for the campers to be involved in other activities?

Absolutely. Each camp day has a recreation period where the campers visit a different sports venue and are involved in a different sport. For example, Ice Skating Camp will play soccer one day, and then go rock-climbing the next day.

What are camp lunches like? Is there a vegetarian option?

Camp lunches, which are prepared by the catering partners of Chelsea Piers, are nutritional and satisfying, and always include a vegetarian option. Camp lunches include hamburgers, hot dogs, green beans, meatloaf, macaroni and cheese, vegetable medley, sliced turkey, mashed potatoes, pizza, baked ziti, chicken fingers, salad, watermelon, bagels with cream cheese or butter, assorted yogurts and cookies. Campers can choose from water, milk and lemonade.

The camp day ends at 4pm. What if I am unable to pick my child up until later in the afternoon?

Chelsea Piers offers an After Care program. The programs runs from 4:30-6pm each day and provides campers with activities such as board games and videos. The cost for After Care is $120/week or pro-rated at $30/day. A $25 late fee is charged if you pick your child up after 6pm.
