Annual Community Report
The year 2015 marked the 20th Anniversary of the Grand Opening of Chelsea Piers. We have spent the last year celebrating and thanking our customers, members and employees. One of the most memorable events this past year was the Friends of Hudson River Park Gala, where Chelsea Piers founders Roland Betts, Tom Bernstein and David Tewksbury were honored.
Olympic Gold Medal Figure Skater Sarah Hughes presented the award to Chelsea Piers. Sarah has a unique connection to Chelsea Piers. As a young aspiring figure skater, Sarah joined us for our Ground Breaking event in 1994, skating on a sheet of synthetic ice on Pier 61. Years later, she went on to compete in 2008 and win gold at the Salt Lake City Games.
Below are links to Sarah's introductory speech as well as a link to a specially-produced video that celebrates the storied history of Chelsea Piers.
While we're pleased with the part we've played in the development of West Chelsea and the beautiful Hudson River Park in the last 20 years, we're even more excited about what will be accomplished in the years to come.
We are thrilled to embark on another decade of being Manhattan's favorite place to relax, play, learn and compete.
