Beginner + Intermediate Swim
Due to COVID restrictions regarding indoor group fitness, we are unable to offer this program at this time.
Our 8-week Beginner and Intermediate Swim programs help students improve their stroke technique for more efficient and rewarding workouts. Emphasis is also placed on breath and stroke synchronization.
CLASS DESCRIPTIONS + PREREQUISITES
Students should bring their own cap, googles and swimsuit. A lifeguard is on duty at all times. Pool is 4.6 feet deep. Lane swim. Open to Chelsea Piers Fitness members only.
Beginner Swim I: Students learn how to improve their freestyle stroke in addition to learning elementary backstroke.
Beginner Swim II: Students perfect their freestyle stroke in addition to learning the standard backstroke. Prerequisite: Beginner I class or you must be able to freestyle swim one length of the pool.
Intermediate Swim I: Students will learn everything about backstroke, including form, turns, and breathing. Additional emphasis will be placed on dolphin kick, and pushing off from the wall in freestyle and backstroke. Prerequisite: Completion of Beginner Swim I or ability to swim one length of the pool.
Intermediate Swim II: Students will learn everything about breaststroke, including form, turns and breathing. Prerequisite: Completion of Beginner Swim II or ability to swim one length of the pool.
