Apex Summer Hockey Training Program

Sky Rink's Apex Hockey Summer Training Program is a rigorous dry land and on-ice hockey training program specifically designed for players committed to excelling at competitive middle/high school, collegiate and professional levels. This intensive program meets five days per week to work on stride development and stamina, plyometric training, strength training and skill development.

Sky Rink's professional coaching staff works with athletes during hockey-specific sessions. A strict 5:1 player-to-coach ratio ensures that all athletes are closely supervised and pushed by top-quality trainers, providing the ideal environment to improve speed, strength, balance, coordination and hockey skills.

ICE HOCKEY SKATING TREADMILL

The Top Shelf hockey treadmill allows for individualized instruction in a controlled environment, focusing on stride mechanics, stride length and speed. Real-time auditory and visual feedback enables the athlete to see changes on an intra-session basis.

HOCKEY-SPECIFIC STRENGTH AND AGILITY TRAINING

Increased strength creates a greater capacity to give and withstand checks, decreases risk of injury, makes for a faster shot and a more powerful stride. The program uses state-of-the-art equipment to focus on movements that increase hockey-specific strength. Additionally, Agility work increases foot speed and directional change-time, which makes our Apex athletes not only faster skaters but also increases their mobility on the ice.

ON-ICE TRAINING

Apex players take their training to the ice with six sessions a week to develop and improve their on-ice skills. Skill development drills emphasize stick handling to enhance hand speed and puck control, shooting technique and off-balance accuracy to increase shot speed and decrease release time and edge work for foot speed and explosive stride power.

INDOOR SYNTHETIC ICE "SKILLS ZONE"

The in-house Skills Zone gives players the opportunity to train on their skates and work on individual skills that they would normally not have the opportunity to work on in a practice or game setting. This includes stick handling, shooting and passing drills.
