Ice Skating Camp follows the Learn to Skate USA curriculum, which maintains that skills learned at each level build on the preceding ones. There are six Basic levels (Basic 1 – Basic 6); each level has six to seven skills taught in a progressive, group-based format. After skaters pass Basic levels 1 – 6, skaters progress to the Pre-Free Skate level. If figure skaters are already working on Free Skate 3 - 6, they are invited to join Sky Rink's Champions Camp. Alternatively, skaters who learned in hockey skates may move on to our Hockey Camp.

Recreational Period / Cross-Training

In addition to their daily on and off-ice training, campers have the opportunity to experience many of the other sports available at Chelsea Piers, including gymnastics, rock climbing, field sports, basketball, bowling and more. Chelsea Piers provides equipment for all recreational activities.

Sky Rink at Chelsea Piers is one of the premier indoor ice skating facilities in the United States, with two full-sized year-round skating rinks, classrooms, a dance studio and a pizzeria/snack bar. Sky Rink is the home of amateur figure skating in New York City.

Sky Rink has assembled an accomplished staff of professional coaches and counselors to provide fun, innovative and progressive training programs for skaters of all abilities. All counselors are mature, college-age students who are responsible, supportive and truly enjoy working with children.
