Junior Ice Hockey camp provides a longer day opportunity for 4-5 year olds with all of the exciting programs of our half-day camps, plus group games and various other activities. Full equipment is required. Campers must bring lunch from home. Previous ice skating experience is required. Campers must turn 4 by 7/1/18 and be fully toilet-trained.

Camp Features

  • Basic skills instruction, movement classes, arts & crafts.
  • Campers learn the basic fundamentals of ice hockey with two on-ice sessions.


Full equipment is required. Campers are encouraged to visit Skater's Edge Pro Shop, located in the Sky Rink lobby, for outfitting and equipment needs. The following is a list of the required equipment:

Junior Ice Hockey Camps take place at Sky Rink. On-ice sessions are held in coned-off areas.


Our accomplished staff of professional coaches and counselors provides fun, innovative and progressive training programs. All counselors are mature, college-age students who are responsible, supportive and truly enjoy working with children.

Note: Transportation and Aftercare are not available for this camp. A late pick-up fee of $25/half hour will be charged after 2:00pm.

Summer Camp customers can register quickly and easily online for all camps, transportation and after-care options through our online registration system. This system allows you to instantly enroll your child and manage your camp account throughout the summer.

If you did not create an account in 2017, please read our Parent Handbook for detailed instructions on how to set up your account. If you already have an account, simply log in to the “Parent Dashboard” and select the camps and weeks of your choice. Note that we do not accept registrations over the phone. Please register online or fax/mail the application. If faxing, you must call to confirm receipt.


Camp begins at 8:45am and ends at 2:00pm, Monday through Friday. Please email camps@chelseapiers.com or call the Camp Office (212.336.6846) for specific daily schedules.
Camp runs from June 18 through August 31. We know how difficult it is to coordinate summer plans, so we have packaged our camps into weekly sessions. Register on or before May 18 and receive Early Bird Pricing. Discounts are also available if you sign up for multiple weeks of the same camp. For tuition questions, please call 212.336.6846.
Transportation is not available for Junior campers or for Preschool campers.
If you are registering for the following week of camp, online registration closes at midnight the WEDNESDAY prior. Online registration for transportation closes at midnight the MONDAY prior to the week of camp. After these dates, please contact the Camp Office at 212.336.6846 to register.
Junior campers will have to bring in their own lunch. We provide snack to the campers.
Aftercare program is not available for Junior campers or Preschool campers. A late pick-up fee of $25 every half hour will be charged.
Our maximum ratio is 7 campers to 1 coach.
Junior Ice Hockey campers are grouped by age and ability. Our coaching staff will evaluate campers the first day of their camp week.
While we cannot guarantee any group requests to place your camper with another, we do our best to accommodate. Grouping requests must be submitted via email to camps@chelseapiers.com before 12 noon on the Friday prior to the week of camp. If friends are the same age / grade, you may request for them to be together if the same counselor group off-ice. However, because the on-ice classes are level-specific, we cannot guarantee that friends will be placed together.


We offer a bus service that provides pick-up and drop-off at multiple locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Chelsea Piers is also easily accessible by car and public transportation. On-site parking is available with a free 20-minute grace period, the M23 bus, which runs across 23rd Street, stops at the entrance to Chelsea Piers. The M14-D crosses 14th Street and ends at 18th Street and the West Side Highway, across the street from Pier 59. For directions, click here.
Junior ice Hockey camp drop-off and pick-up will be at the desk in front of the East Rink at Sky Rink.
Chelsea Piers Summer Camps have athletic trainers who monitor the safety of the campers and dispense medication to any child who has medication and a note from their parents.
Yes. Water fountains are available at each camp venue. All campers have a designated snack time.
Ice Hockey campers will need full hockey equipment (hockey skates, shin pads, shoulder pads, hockey pants, hockey socks, elbow pads, hockey gloves, athletic cup, and helmet with full face shield, internal mouth guard, neck guard and hockey stick). All campers will need their camp t-shirt, water bottle, tennis shoes and socks for their daily recreational activity.
Please leave all toys and non-camp related personal items at home. This includes handheld games, jewelry, cell phones and iPods. Chelsea Piers is not responsible for lost or stolen property.


A non-refundable $175 per week deposit is required at the time of registration. The balance of tuition must be paid in full by May 9, 2018. All campers who register after May 9, 2018 must pay the entire tuition at the time of registration. Checks will not be accepted as a form of payment after June 1, 2018, nor will they be accepted for walk-ups or for those enrolling in camp the same day. Credit cards or cash will be accepted forms of payment. If you are extending camp weeks for your child on or after May 9, the credit card on file will be charged.

Transportation/Aftercare Information

Transportation can only be added or edited up to the Tuesday prior to camp session, and Aftercare up until the Thursday prior to the camp session. Please note that if you chose transportation you will be emailed or called with your pick-up time the Friday before your child starts camp.

Campers who remain at Chelsea Piers after 4:30pm will be placed in our Aftercare Program. This program allows parents the chance to complete their workday and affords campers a chance to unwind and relax after a long day. Campers may be picked up in the Field House between 4:30pm - 6:00pm. Aftercare will be billed according to use and no pre-payment is required at the time of registration.

Cancellations and Making Changes

If you paid-in-full and would like to cancel camp before May 9, 2018, all of your money will be returned to you except the $175 per week cancellation fee. After this date, no refunds will be granted for absences, transportation delays, or withdrawals for any other reason. Refunds will not be granted in the event that an act of war (declared or otherwise), strike/work stoppage, natural disaster or reasons beyond the control of Chelsea Piers, disrupts or forces the cancellation of camp.

There is a $45 change fee for each change made before May 18, 2018 to the original application. On or after May 18, 2018, there is a $45 change fee plus the actual cost of camp. Walk-up Fee and Other Fees

All registrations received after 4:00pm on the Thursday prior to the start of desired week of camp incur a $50 walk-up fee.

Aftercare is available in the Field House for an additional fee of $40 per day or $150 per week from 4:30pm - 6:00pm. Parents will be charged a $25 late fee every half hour for picking up their children after 6:00pm.
