Facilities

Sky Rink is one of the premier indoor hockey facilities in the United States. Featuring two full-sized year-round skating rinks, classrooms, locker rooms and a pizzeria/snack bar, Sky Rink is the home of amateur ice hockey in New York City.

Top Shelf Hockey Training Center

Top Shelf Hockey Training Center is a state-of-the-art training space designed for competitive hockey players. With the latest-generation equipment and proven training protocols, Top Shelf Hockey Training offers unparalleled services and Athletic Republic-certified coaching to hockey players interested in taking their game to the next level.

Top Shelf's facility is home to an Athletic Republic-patented skating treadmill, which can reach speeds of 16 MPH and an incline grade of 36.5 degrees. This machine, combined with the short duration/high intensity sprinting sequences that simulate hockey shifts, delivers the most sport-specific conditioning program possible. Players are taught proper stride mechanics at high speeds and learn to self-correct in three ways: real-time visual -- by training in front of a mirror; auditory — through the coach's cues; and video replay -- through Dartfish video motion analysis. All contribute to improved stride mechanics.

Top Shelf also houses an artifical ice Skills Zone. The Skills Zone helps players develop their individual skills with drills that focus on stick handling, shooting, off-balance accuracy, soft hands, passing, toe drags, dekes, shooting technique and power, obstacle stick handling, puck control and goalie skills.

Staff

The Acceleration Hockey Camp staff is comprised of professional, caring coaches and counselors who are committed to helping campers learn and experience ice hockey in a fun and safe environment.

There is a daily recreation period where campers participate in different activities at our incredible sports venues. Some of these activities include field sports, ice skating and bowling. A schedule of each activity is emailed to parents the week before camp.
Ice Hockey campers are grouped by age and ability. Our coaching staff then evaluates each camper's skill level in order to provide appropriate challenges as the camp progresses.
While we cannot guarantee any group requests to place your camper with another, we do our best to accommodate. Grouping requests must be submitted via email to camps@chelseapiers.com before 12 noon on the Friday prior to the week of camp. If friends are the same age/grade, you may request for them to be together if the same counselor group off-ice. However, because the on-ice classes are level-specific, we cannot guarantee that friends will be placed together.
