Tamika’s coaching philosophy has evolved throughout the years and has remained rooted in self confidence, self worth and having fun.

Competitive Background

As a child Tamika grew up dancing and doing gymnastics. Having performed all over Louisiana and Texas, she moved to NYC to study at the Martha Graham School and pursue a career in dance and found that coaching gymnastics was her passion.

Coaching Experience

Tamika has taught and coached gymnastics at the 92nd St YM/YWHA, NYC Elite, the Wendy Hilliard Gymnastics Foundation and Brooklyn Arts Exchange(BAX).

Most Memorable Sports Moment

My most memorable coaching experiences have come from being on the competition floor and taking a gymnast from being so nervous they were shaking to having them feel confident and strong by giving them a great pep talk right before they compete. They were able to finish the competition with a smile and ready to do it again.
