About Chelsea Piers Swim School
Every child starts somewhere. Every child has a next step. Whether your child is learning to swim for the first time or refining their strokes, our program is built around where they are right now.

Ages 3 months – 3 years · Caregiver in the water · Infant swim lessons start here. Songs, movement, and essential water safety skills with gentle, supportive instruction.

Ages 2.5 – 7 · Where children become independent swimmers — floating, kicking, and moving through the water on their own.

Ages 5 and up · All four competitive strokes, built over time. Technique, endurance, and confidence in the water.

Every Chelsea Piers swimmer earns their way forward through our badge system. Each level has five specific skills attached to it. As a swimmer masters each one, their instructor marks it off. When all five are complete, they advance — and they know exactly why. For parents, it's full transparency into where your child is and what comes next. For kids, each badge is something real: earned, not given.
What parents say
Before classes, I had a son who refused to get in a pool. Now it is a pure joy to watch.
My son Cameron excelled with Henry and is scooping, kicking, climbing out, jumping in, and going under in a matter of weeks.
Every week Meera really looks forward to the class. She remembers all her coaches and speaks of them fondly.
She can swim well. She learned it all here.
Jackson gained so much confidence in the water — including putting his head completely underwater.
We welcome children from 3 months through their teens. Our youngest classes — Starfish — are designed for infants and toddlers with a caregiver in the water. Infant swim lessons start as early as 3 months. Every level from there is built around where your child is right now, developmentally and in the water.
If you're not sure which program fits your child, our team is happy to help.

Classes run in 12-week trimesters, each session and semester building on the last. At every stage, your child is placed in the level that matches exactly where they are right now. For younger swimmers, the goal is water independence—moving safely and confidently on their own. For older swimmers, it's the beginning of the sport: stroke technique, endurance, and a pathway toward competitive swimming for those who want to go further.
